What is oscilating turret?

An oscillating turret is a type of rotating weapon system used in military vehicles and tanks. It is designed to provide a greater field of fire for the weapon mounted on the turret. Unlike traditional turrets that rotate around a center axis, oscillating turrets have a secondary axis that allows for the weapon to be elevated or depressed. This provides greater flexibility in aiming the weapon at targets. Additionally, oscillating turrets offer better protection for the crew, as the lower profile reduces the surface area exposed to enemy fire. Some well-known vehicles that use oscillating turrets include the French Leclerc main battle tank and the Russian T-14 Armata.
